Sometimes a tooth is so damaged and weak that a dental crown is required which fits over the whole of the tooth. Dental crowns can also cover too small or misshapen teeth as well as badly discoloured teeth which can’t be improved by cleaning or whitening.
Before the dental crown is made, the tooth is prepared by shaping (2) and a dental impression is taken. The impression together with instructions on
tooth colour is sent to the dental laboratory where the crown is hand-crafted. The dental crown is then bonded into place by your dentist (3).
